Mini City + Comcast

The pilot reached a potential lifetime customer value of $1M in just 3 months.

Mini City, a SaaS platform that streamlines the process of obtaining identification (birth records) and benefits (TANF, Food Stamps, Medicaid, ACP, and more) for the indigent population. Mini City is connecting one of our nation’s most vulnerable groups, the homeless, to much needed services. Our big vision is to eradicate long term, chronic homelessness and foster thriving communities. The first step, or key to being able to take strides to sustainability, lies within access to identification and life critical benefits offered by municipalities and enterprise groups

The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), was a government program which offered a $30/month subsidy for internet access to low-income households.

Digital inequity is just one of the many barriers the needy population faces. Mini City featured the ACP benefit within the Mini City application, encouraging eligible citizens to apply, and gathering information about their engagement with the program.

The goals of this collaboration were to:

To increase awareness of ACP, particularly among individuals who are on the path out of homelessness, and may be positioned to benefit from the subsidy as they obtain access to housing

To increase brand-awareness of Comcast, and relevant offerings like Internet Essentials, among individuals who hope to equip themselves and their families with internet access

To collect information on citizen interest in the ACP benefit, and how this correlates to their demographics and circumstances, in order to identify the most effective channels for promoting the benefit in the future

To lay the groundwork, in terms of process and technical infrastructure, for further collaboration between Comcast and Mini City (for example, by presenting other services which may provide value to citizens enrolled with Mini City at various stages on their path out of homelessness, such as a direct portal to Internet Essentials.
